Andrea Tuttle & Rebecca Fannon discuss 2025 GPPSS bond.
On October 15th, we welcomed Andrea Tuttle, Superintendent of Grosse Pointe Public Schools, along with Rebecca Fannon. Andrea brings over 30 years of teaching experience and is now in her second year in the Grosse Pointe Public School System and first year as Superintendent. Her background includes teaching both globally and nationally, and she expressed her passion for education, leadership, travel, and new experiences.
Andrea and Rebecca shared information about the upcoming 2025 GPPSS Bond Proposal, a $120 million initiative that will appear on the November 4th ballot, with absentee ballots available beginning September 25th. The bond includes $60 million for critical needs and $60 million based on community input, designed to attract and retain students and staff - all with no increase to the current tax rate.
They highlighted that 84% of the district’s budget goes toward personnel, reflecting its nature as a service-driven organization, leaving 16% for all other expenses. Given that the average age of school buildings is 82 years, the bond will prioritize infrastructure, safety, and security improvements across elementary, middle, and high schools.
One key initiative discussed was the Parcells Pool Project, a major $6.75 million renovation to address structural and mechanical deficiencies. The district is also exploring options to repurpose the pool area into STEAM classrooms, an auxiliary gym, cafeteria, or technology hub.
