Andra Watkins, best-selling author and a very active Rotarian in South Carolina.  She is the author of four books; To Live Forever: An Afterlife Journey of Meriwether LewisNot Without My Father: One Woman’s 444-Mile Walk of the Natchez Trace, Tracks in Time (a book of photos taken during her 15-mile daily hikes) and Hard to Die.

Today she entertained us with a humorous presentation on Not Without My Father: One Woman’s 444-Mile Walk of the Natchez Trace.

In this book, Ms. Watkins undertook the 444 mile walk from Natchez, MS to Nashville, TN, as a means to promote her first book.  It became a memoir about this dysfunctional family adventure after she convinced her 80 year old father to be her wing-man.  In a very humorous manner, she described the daily interactions with her father and how, after a lifetime of a strained relationship, she eventually came to understand him and also talked about the physical toll the daily 15 mile walks took on her body.
