Rocket Fiber, part of the Quicken Loans family, is a Detroit based internet company. Internet service provided through fiber optics offers hyper-fast home internet speeds at a cost of $70/month without a contract. For businesses, it offers services that cater to the individual company’s needs with 24 hour customer service.
Rocket Fiber is in negotiations with the Grosse Pointes, Harper Woods, the GP Public Library, and the GP School System to bring its services to the area. The entities would share in the cost of building the fiber optic ring and Rocket Fiber would then provide 10 gigs of internet speed for 15 years and maintain the ring for 20 years, at no additional cost. The company would deal directly with businesses and residents who would like to sign up.
